Three black bears in green, red, and black leaves. The layered leaf canes give these bears a nice roly-poly plumpness. Like all black bears, their rear legs are taller than their front legs, giving the illusion that they are always traveling downhill.
This is a favorite design of mine. I always keep at least one bear of each color on hand. Unlike the other animals on this page, any bear purchased will NOT be identical to the one pictured.

Loosely based on the gibbon, this leafy fellow is truly part of the jungle. Each of his furry leaves is a separate slice of cane. His tree is also polymer clay. The base is Austrailian burl wood.

Red Spiral Giraffe

I love to play with the long evocative necks of giraffes. The giraffe may be laying down, but she's looking softly over her shoulder at something--perhaps her baby. Each of her spots is a slice of spiral cane.

Peacock Feathered Lion

Lions are proud creatures. If they had a choice I think they really would have peacock feather manes. Each feather in this fellow's mane is a slice of my peacock feather cane.

Camels are really quite scruffy looking --- funny tufts of hair stick out all over the place. My camel's tufts are slices of my green leaf cane. The base is Australian burl wood.

These polymer clay animals are evocative and full of personality. Although the colors are fanciful, each sculpture captures the essence of each kind. The camels are haughty, the goats knowing, and the giraffes graceful and alert.

From a distance, the animals appear simple, almost naive. But closer inspection reveals intricately-colored details that can only be created with polymer clay canes.

Every animal is individually sculpted and decorated with handmade clay canes.

The smooth icy look of this polar bear's body is created with chrysanthemum canes of white, pearl, and translucent. Post-baking sanding to 1500 grit gives him his luster.
